Livestock Insurance

It is a fact that whilst nearly all Commercial farmers insure their fixed assets only 1% insure their livestock. Research confirms this is because the Insurance Industry has not been able to come up with Insurance products that are both comprehensive & affordable - that is until now!

David Garden of Natsure Agri, an international expert & consultant on insurance products, has produced three policies which combine the broadest possible cover with affordability.

To distribute these products, David has appointed African Rand Underwriters who are insuring farmers' assets via their Agrinsure policy on behalf of the Western National Insurance Company.

There is a trilogy of policies available to the farmer, two are designed to protect his herd & the third his stud animals.

The Herd Select policy, as the name implies, enables the farmer to select those herd animals he wishes to insure for the broadest possible cover, thus giving the most cost effective protection for his major asset.

The rest of the herd can then be insured under the Essential Cover Policy, which although offering limited cover, is far more comprehensive than was previously available from South African Insurers.

The third policy in the trilogy is for stud animals only & provides cover so comprehensive that it is even suitable for stud animals with values in excess of R1million.

For example, should the animal be put down by order of Government or local Authority the insurance will pay the difference between the amount compensated & the real value of the animal.
